Probably RHEL4 or FC1, though I personally tend to rebuild SRPM's if I need to pull something from another distro. Anything in particular we can help you with? Michael -- Michael Jennings (a.k.a. Thanks. I don't mind build from source. It's just more convenient if you can somehow yum it. :-) > > Anything in particular we can help you with? > > Michael > I'm supporting a small cluster based on caos2+warewulf and I'm going to install some basic scientific computing packages such as ATLAS. It appears that there aren't so many such RPM's in caos. I'll certain post again if I encounter problems. It appears that there aren't so many such RPM's in caos. As I understand it, most of the HPC packages went into the "ports" tree (yum install ports) because folks didn't understand how to make Mezzanine build with HPC compilers and such (like Portland or mpicc or what have you). So you may also want to check there, though I've never personally heard of ATLAS. Maybe one of the clusterheads can shed more light on the subject. Michael -- Michael Jennings (a.k.a. We had a volunteer to maintain them once upon a time, but that person has been unable to continue doing so. HOWEVER, it came to my attention today that packages for both webmin-1.50 and usermin-1.79 made it into the autobuilder repository somehow in the past. NOTE: This ONLY affects users of the autobuilder repository, which should only include developers. Users of the stable, current, or testing repo's are NOT affected by this. Both of these versions (and any webmin < 2.90 or usermin < 2.20) have serious security issues, most noteably to an exploit which is apparently being used by some nice folks in the UAE to set up Undernet bots. Vulnerability information is here: http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/999601 The exploit code can be found here for testing potentially vulnerable systems: http://www.milw0rm.com/exploits/2017 If you currently or have ever in the past used the autobuilder repository, please make sure you do not have either of these packages installed. I know of at least one system where user accounts have been compromised via these packages (though admittedly also due to weak user passwords). To see if you are affected, perform the following as root: # rpm -q webmin usermin webmin-1.250-1.caos usermin-1.179-1.caos # If you see either or both of those packages on your system, deactivate them immediately: # /etc/init.d/webmin stop ; chkconfig webmin off # /etc/init.d/usermin stop ; chkconfig usermin off My sincere apologies to anyone affected by this.
