David, I see this question cross the Fedora -devel list a lot, as there has been a lag in getting buildsystem sufficiently detailed in process definion that an advanced end user wanting to package can set up and successfully use a non-root, build chroot with a stock kernel. Also there is the hurtle of rpm .spec file packaging, and solving build environment dependencies, and test build environment population with those dependencies before doing a test build. For the last year, I have been working on those problems, in my work on rpm-list, and the cAos project. Previously I had become disenchanted with pace and process, and concluded that I should largely withdraw from the initial fedora-us project. I mentioned a while back that it will occur when the 2.6 kernel is released, and that has happened. What's the holdup? Well, to put it bluntly I am out of development boxes. cAos2 will be supported on ia32 and if we can get >=2 x86_64, that too. (one for primary development and testing, the other for the buildmaster). So we will need at least 2 of each of these architectures. So if you happen to be or know a vendor that would like public credit for a contribution to the project, please send them my way. BTW, I have been told that the articles of incorporation for "The cAos foundation" as a non-profit (501c3) entity are in the mail which makes all contributions "charitable donations". note: I will not be able to verify the approval status until I have read the docs myself. If using GDM login manager, there is way to select your WM at login (or tell it to read ~/.xinitrc IIRC). Hope that helps!
